Car-Freshner files lawsuit against book publisher

Car-Freshner Corp. has filed a federal trademark infringement lawsuit against a book publisher it claims is marketing a coffee table book that includes an air freshener similar to the Watertown company’s “Little Trees” design.

Car-Freshner, which has its headquarters in the Jefferson County Corporate Park, filed suit March 18 in U.S. District Court, Syracuse, against Insight Editions LP, San Rafael, Calif., a publisher of illustrated books on photography, music and popular culture. [Read more…]

Jefferson-Lewis Manufacturing Day spotlights industry’s need for young talent

High school students often make the mistake of quickly ruling out a career in the manufacturing industry, overlooking the presence of strong local businesses that are looking for skilled young workers.

They’ll get a real glimpse of those jobs next spring, however, as numerous manufacturers in Jefferson and Lewis counties will open their doors for field trips to 11 of the 19 school districts in the region.

That plan was highlighted Friday during Manufacturing Day at the Fireside at Partridge Berry Inn, attended by about 40 stakeholders including teachers, guidance counselors and industry leaders. The daylong event included a lively round-table discussion with a panel of manufacturing leaders, along with a tour of the New York Air Brake facility at 748 Starbuck Ave.

OBGYN doctor joins Canton-Potsdam

White

Dr. Paul White, OB/GYN, has joined Canton-Potsdam Hospital and is seeing patients at the Women’s Room, 190 outer Main St., Potsdam.

Dr. White completed medical training at Tufts Medical School, Baystate Medical Center and University Autonoma de Guadalajara in 2000 with additional pre-internship training at New York Medical College. He completed his internship in family medicine at Southern Illinois University and an additional internship in obstetrics and gynecology at Brooklyn Hospital Center. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Medical School in 2007, serving as chief resident during his final year of residency.
